PREGNENOLONE #26
Pregnenolone is the precursor of
dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), Pregnenolone is made from a compound of the
vegetable wild yam, grown in certain parts of southern U.S. and in Mexico. This wild yam contains Diosgenin that is the precursor to
steroid hormones. In a laboratory,
Diosgenin is compounded several times and then converted into Pregnenolone.
The human body does not have the
ability (the required enzymes) to convert Diosgenin into Pregnenolone. Therefore, if you swallow pills that are extracts of wild
yams, you will not get Pregnenolone or DHEA. The conversion of Diosgenin to Pregnenolone or DHEA must be done within a
laboratory, preferably done within a lab in Europe (at this time they are more
advanced). If the bottle says made
from extracts of wild yams you only will get wild yams!
Pregnenolone is made in many organs
and tissues that produce steroid hormones, the most common of these organs are
the adrenal glands, liver, skin and gonads (testicles and ovaries). Pregnenolone is different from DHEA, it has the ability to form other
hormones such as progesterone. DHEA
has often been called the "Mother hormone," Pregnenolone would best be
described as the "Grandmother of all steroid hormones."
When you take Pregnenolone your body
will decide which pathway it should take, will it take the DHEA route or
progesterone / cortisol / aldosterone direction? Aldosterone is involved in keeping our blood pressure up, telling our
kidneys to maintain high amounts of sodium within our blood so that our blood
pressure doesn't fall.

of the benefits of taking Pregnenolone are:
It is highly recommended that
additional reading be done on Pregnenolone for safety and dosage, such as, Pregnenolone A Practical Guide, Ray Sahelian, M.D.
