PUBLIC AWARENESS CAN STOP CODEX

I have tried staying away from Canadian politics while writing this health reform article, but since when was it not political? I don’t want to step on any toes, but this avoidance may be near impossible. Codex is shrouded with many veils and on the surface it looks wonderful. When digging deeper we see Codex roots interconnected with many organizations, a few groups that are intertwined are; World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations (UN) / Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and all of these have rootsi. I have not attempted to get to the foundation with this article, for one, I do not have the clearance for this pursuit. Much of the information is restricted and classified by design. The power to control our daily lives are being implemented behind closed doors, society needs to become aware that this is happening if any changes are to be made.

George Orwell’s reflection about the spying big brother has been noted for many years, but do we really believe in this train of thought? I hope we do, but we hold these thoughts in the back of our mind, and we dare not focus to long because it makes us feel helpless. Choosing to ignore reality will never bring a change; an example of a young boy whistling as he walks past the cemetery trying to convince himself all is well. His fears are not strengthened by his whistle; he only hopes that they will.

Our society is presently in this position, feeling helpless, scared and alone. How can one individual fight such an opposition?  Continued thinking like this produces one thing… silence. If controlled measures are implemented, a voice must be given in opposition, this is our constitutional right under the Charter of Human Rights. Silence only allows misdeeds to become law. All we can do is shuffle through life keeping heads bowed and grant those in power unaccountability. No voice of opposition allows deception to continue. Like good puppy dogs, society continues wagging their tails waiting for a bone and trusting all is well.

The cliché that it takes one candle (voice) to light to a darken environment, and soon the one light will spark another is very true. This process exposes those working within the cloak of darkness, revealing their actions, to bring about a change. But these discussions are dangerous to Government and Big Business. The best way to maintain control is by having the subjects confused, weakened, and remaining unorganized. Leadership with secrecy is their desire.

It never ceases to amaze me during an election year all the promises and the political agendas being offered. The ability to reflect on past or present leaders, by pointing out their failures, rallying support by addressing loyal delegates, convincing them how different their leadership will be once in office. They show their honesty while digging up dirt on the opposition, appearing as honest Abe Lincoln, beyond reproach. But most have more hidden skeletons than seen during Halloween. Election night, how the supporters cheer in some frenzy, what deception is this? How blind have we become, this is the time for accountability? Oh I am a Conservative, a Liberal, a Democrat, or a Republican, I do not believe in their policies, I know they are corrupt, but I will stay with my party. This mentality will never bring a change.

If you have a different point of view or you question how policies are administered, then you have become a National Security threat, this type of speech can bring anarchy to governments. It will affect our leader’s retirement plans and reduce their pension income funds, “we can’t have that happen, no way!” Politicians do the very same things, they create laws to condemn; they use political brooms to sweep compromising issues under the carpet. Protecting big business while securing votes, how else could they repay those who pockets they are living from while in office? They benefit from perks and donations, and not just the salaries of public servants. Yes, you can break the laws and have rezoning, but it will cost you, we like to call it insurance. Incase you get caught; we need to have a scapegoat ready! These multi-nationals expect compensation for donations, and they get it, look at the Gomery Commission in Canada, and the finance leader still holds the power!

Yes, we see the system is corrupted by the mighty dollar on all levels, and it is not just the international terrorist that we need to watch out for. How about the elected officials who govern us? Oh I think I may have touched on a sensitive subject, not in our back doors a foreign country maybe. You would be very surprised to know what back room deals are being made for the mighty dollar, and at the same time risking and compromising the lives of so called free individuals. They have moved from the backdoors and now occupy every aspect of our daily lives. When America was attacked on 9/11, this gave the powers to be a carte blanche. They now can do openly what they were doing to you before, but now they say it is for our protection. The sharks are not swimming outside the cage of the charter of rights anymore; they are inside and feeding, but blaming others.

The quality of life that you enjoyed before 9/11 will never return, your freedom of views will now be challenged at every level.

It is easy to introduce laws that take away the individuals rights, look at the pharmaceutical industry for example. The health system works from the direction of the drug industry. If natural vitamins become too popular and the sales of drugs are reduced, watch how quickly it will be deemed unsafe needing a Drug Identification Number (DIN). In Canada after years of trying to get amino acids permitted for sale, the health industry is given the NHPN (Natural Health Product Number). Because of this measure, Health Canada assures Canadians that Codex will never enter Canadaii; do they really believe that we are that gullible?

This above measure is not going to stop Codex, this statement was given in an attempt to quite down the protest that concerned Canadians have voiced. Yes, supplements and minerals will continue to be available in Canada after Codex is implemented, but only under the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)iii. From this chart, the RDA’s levels will drop supplement potency to less than 1/10th of the current standard. One 60 capsule bottle of Vitamin E will contain 600 IU, presently 2 capsules contain more, anything stronger will need a prescription.

Vitamin sales will be permitted as long as drug sales don’t slide, but how will this happen? The drug companies will lobby for them to be classified as unsafe by conducting controlled clinical trials. This is done for safety purposes protecting consumers, the publics welfare is all that matters. Yeah right! Can consumers take supplements unregulated? No, this will only complicate the side effects received from prescription drugs. Just relax and feel comfortable that the drug agents are professionals.

The sale of ephedrine was taken off the market in U.S.iv and followed by Canada, claiming it was too dangerous. Or could it have been that this natural non-patented product compromised the drug sales for allergy medication? For years the sales of Vioxx were aggressively pursued within Canada and the U.S.; was it ever removed from sales by the U.S. FDA or from Health Canada? No, it was voluntarily removed by Merck pharmaceuticalsv. More than 3.36 million prescriptions were given in Canada alone during 2003. The recent reports from the FDA indicate as many as 140,000 people may have suffered a heart attack or sudden cardiac death as a result of Vioxx, and 60,000 deaths. Dr. David Graham, a scientist at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; his job is to evaluate the safety of drugs after the FDA has approved them. Dr. Graham stated that the death count from Vioxx "is the equivalent of the Vietnam War," he told an audience of about 250 doctors, academics and the public at the University of Michigan Hospitalvi.

It’s all about the money, always was and always will be!

Look at our environment, contaminated to the deepest ocean levels and extends to the outer atmosphere, but will Mr. Bush admit to global warming? No, because this admission will become too costly to big business and ruin the U.S. economy. But in truth, our wildlife is becoming extinct, and mankind’s health is the offering. The god’s of industry receive homage from the billowing smokestacks because global warming is all about greed. These industrial enterprises value balanced accounting rather than human life. Shareholders’ profits cannot be jeopardized; the environment will need to wait. It is too late turning back, the damage done is irreparable, our children and future generations will pay for our greed. All the things that stood for value and quality of life in the past seem replaced. Where have the markers of past generation gone?

Is anyone really accountable? It appears not!

It is said in our society that everyone has rights, but if this is true then the victim’s rights are compromised. If we protect the rights of the thief, then the victim suffers! Soon jails become over-run and the court system backlogged for years, the only winners in this situation are the criminals. When penalty is no longer any deterrent from crime, you have a system that is in anarchy.

Does society care? Not really, as long as their immediate comforts remain. Secure their entertainment this is priority number one; a remote control, large screen television, beer in the fridge and the return of hockey! And don’t show us those starving kids in Africa anymore, it makes us feel guilty, we could loose our appetite. Belts barely fitting the waistlines, but what can be done? Sadly, this is the state of affairs in North America.

Change begins by awareness. Remove the scales from your eyes and see the world around you. It is one world, and one people, isn’t it about time that we acted like it was?

Time is at hand, now what are you going to do about it?
