HORNY GOAT WEED (Epimedium grandiflorum)
It's one of the most popular and effective kidney yang tonics with a long history of use. In studies, mice treated with a Horny Goat Weed preparation produced "apparent effects on the improvement of sexuality." It was also shown to improve sperm production and mobility. Epimedium might have AMO (mono-amine-oxidase-ihibitor) activity. In trials they showed that levels of noradrenaline, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine levels were all elevated in animals given Epimedium. High dopamine levels encourage the release of leutenizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. LH in turn stimulates the testes to produce more testosterone; this may help to explain the pro-sexual effects. Another interesting finding regarding Epimedium is that it seems to heighten the sensitivity of nerve endings in the skin, which would also indirectly reinforce sexual stimulation. The flowers of the horny goat weed are pink or reddish-mauve, have twisted petals that are tipped with white and appear in the spring in airy little clusters.

MACA (lepidium meyenii)
A recent study was published in the April 2000 issue of Urology, the prestigious medical journal that first published the Viagra studies. This study scientifically demonstrated that the standardized Maca extract promotes libido, sexual potency and energy. In fact, the sexual activity of the test subjects nearly QUADRUPLED after taking the herb for 21 days! Dubbed "Peruvian Ginseng," the Maca plant is reputed to increase strength, sexual energy, stamina, libido and sexual function for both men and women in with the United States, and in more than 200 countries worldwide.

MACA PRURIENS (cowhage)
This plant has a long tradition in Ayurveda as an aphrodisiac; it also contains the chemical l-dopa. Your Choice uses a standardized extract yielding 15% L-dopa. AVENA SATIVA
Common name Oats. Taking oat tincture on a regular basis can optimize your testosterone levels leading to increased sex drive, enhanced repair of body tissues, mental alertness and a positive, motivated state of mind. Avena Sativa stimulates testosterone levels; this is the sex drive of both men and women. Males use testosterone but so do women, but in much lower levels than men. Most testosterone is bound to the carrier called SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) and only about two percent is floating freely through your system. It is the free testosterone that is responsible for firing your libido. If you could free more testosterone you would have a higher sex drive.  Testosterone is more than just a sex hormone, Testosterone levels are very important for our mental status; it makes us feel good, energetic and alive.
